How we Hive

01 Getting Started

HX runs both as a website and as an installable app on your phone or desktop, with one account working across both.

Creating an account or signing in

Open the app and enter your email and a password of at least 6 characters. New here? Switch to Create Account, agree to the terms, and you're in. HX doesn't require email verification friction to get started, you can be posting in your hive within a minute.

Joining a hive

A hive is HX's word for a community, your company, your event's attendee network, your local business association. You join one of two ways:

• An invite link or QR code from someone already in the hive, tap or scan it and you're dropped straight in.
• The public hive directory at hive.elevatedexperience.vip/hives, which lists every hive that's opted in to being discoverable, each with its own join link and QR code, no account needed to browse it.

Belong to more than one hive? Switch between them any time from the dropdown next to the hive name in the top-left corner. Tap the pin icon on any hive in that list to keep it sorted near the top, above your unpinned ones, this carries across every device you're signed into. The Home Hive always sits first regardless.

Inviting more than one person? The Invite Multiple button next to your invite QR code lets you pick several contacts straight from your phone's own address book (Chrome/Android only) or paste in a list of email addresses, and sends them all a real invite email in one go. There's a manual per-contact text-message option too for anyone you only have a phone number for.

The welcome tour

The first time you log in, a short onboarding tour introduces the main areas. Returning after a big update, you'll instead see a What's New card carousel, swipe through it or close it, it'll politely remind you again next time unless you tick "don't show again."

02 The Feed

Your hive's shared timeline. Text, photos, videos, locations, moods, shared listings, all in one scroll, newest first.

Posting

Tap Contribute to your hive at the top of the Feed. Beyond plain text you can attach a Photo, drop a Location pin, or set a Feeling. Type @ to mention someone by name, or # to tag a topic, hashtags render in your hive's own colour and are searchable.

Video links play in place

Paste a YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, or LinkedIn link into a post (or a message) and it embeds automatically with a real thumbnail and play button, no need to leave HX to watch it. This only works for videos the original poster left public.

Sparking and Resonating

Tap Spark for a quick 👍, or hold it (or hover on desktop) to pick from seven reactions. Tapping the count shows exactly who sparked it. Resonate expands the Resonance Thread under the post, complete with @mentions and #hashtags of its own; each reply you add is a Contribution, and it earns you Sparks for adding real depth to the conversation. You can delete your own Contribution, and so can the post's author or a hive admin, moderating spam or off-topic replies without needing to delete the whole post.

Sharing

Share lets you repost to your own feed with your own added comment, or send a post directly to someone via Messages.

Secret Words

Hidden across every hive are positive, community-spirited words, grouped into categories. Use one in a post or message, in the Feed or in Messages, and a celebration plays across your screen along with a Sparks bonus: 5 Sparks the first time you use a given word, 50 for completing a whole category, and 500 for finding every one. Check Top Sparks for the current total, we won't spoil which words they are.

03 Network

Everyone in your hive, and, separately, the people you've actually connected with.

The four filters

Connecting

Every person card has a connect icon: a plain silhouette means not yet connected, a clock means your request is pending, a checkmark means you're connected. Tap a card to open their full profile, gallery, experience, testimonials, and posts. Sending a request plays a quick full-screen handshake animation to celebrate the new connection.

The Network Map

Tap Network Map next to the page title for a radial, interactive diagram: you at the centre, your direct connections in the inner ring, and who they're connected to fanned out in an outer ring. Tap anyone on it to jump straight to their profile. Pinch or scroll to zoom, and drag to pan around, on both desktop and mobile. Grounded connections glow with a golden ring so they stand out from the rest.

Grounded Connections

When you meet someone in real life, open My Profile and tap My Card to show your personal QR business card. They tap Scan, either next to Network Map or on their own profile, and scan it with their camera. Scanning offers to save your name, phone, and email straight to their phone's contacts, then connects you in the app instantly, with no request to accept, since meeting in person is the confirmation. If you're already connected, scanning simply upgrades that connection.

A connection made this way is marked Grounded: your profile shows a golden "Grounded" badge instead of the usual green "Connected" one, and the Network Map draws a golden ring around their photo and a golden line to them, so you can always tell who you've properly met at a glance. Use the Grounded filter in My Connections to see everyone you've met in real life.

04 Messages & Circles

Direct messages, group chats, and Circles, focused sub-threads inside a group chat for when a conversation needs to branch off without becoming a whole new chat.

Starting a conversation

Tap the pencil icon on the Messages screen. Pick one person for a direct message, or several for a group chat (name it, or let HX generate a name from who's in it).

A row of green-ringed avatars above your conversation list shows contacts who are online right now, tap one to jump straight into that chat.

Distro Lists

Tap the people icon next to the pencil to save a reusable list of people you message often, no need to pick them one by one every time. Each list has a Send to All button, this delivers your message as a completely normal direct message in each person's own conversation with you, not a shared group chat everyone can see.

Replying to a specific message

Right-click a message on desktop, or press and hold it on mobile, then choose Reply. Your reply quotes exactly what you're responding to, so context never gets lost in a busy group.

Circles

Inside any group chat, tap Circles to branch a subset of the group into its own focused thread, useful when three of the twelve people in an event group chat need to sort out logistics without flooding everyone else's screen. Circles are an organisational tool, not a privacy boundary: anyone in the parent group chat can open any Circle.

Group admins

Every group chat has a creator, and any group member can be promoted to Admin by the creator (via the Members button at the top of the chat). Admins can add and remove members alongside the creator. Anyone can leave a group themselves at any time.

Everything else in a chat

• Photos, files, voice notes, and short video messages, via the attachment/mic/camera icons by the composer.
• GIFs, via the GIF button.
• Emoji reactions on any individual message.
• Video links (YouTube/Facebook/TikTok/LinkedIn) play in place here too, exactly like the Feed.

05 Businesses

Your hive's own local business directory, browsable as a list or as a live map.

Finding a business

Search by name, category, or town, or narrow by category pill (Speakers, Consultants, Retail, Technology, and more). The Accessible filter shows only listings with at least one accessibility feature confirmed. Toggle to Map View for a live, pin-based map instead of a card grid.

A business's own page

Message the owner directly from here, or, if you run the business, everything on this page is yours to edit: contact details, socials, services, testimonials, photos, and an accessibility checklist that other members can confirm or dispute.

Anyone in the hive can leave a review, a 0-10 "would you recommend this business" score plus an optional comment, visible to everyone straight away. Resonate with any review to reply publicly underneath it, the same open conversation as a post's Resonance Thread, and each reply earns you Sparks too.

Every claimed accessibility item also has its own Resonate thread, so you can ask a question or add detail about wheelchair access, a hearing loop, a quiet room, or any other item, right underneath it. Replying earns Sparks too. A business's claimed items and confirm/flag counts also show on its public page (hive.elevatedexperience.vip/businesses), no login needed to check before you visit, only confirming, flagging, or Resonating requires joining the hive.

Listing your own business

Tap New Business. New listings go through your hive admin's approval before appearing publicly, keeping the directory genuine.

06 Events

In-person, virtual, and hybrid events: workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and networking.

An event's page

Register (free events) or buy a ticket (paid ones), add it to your calendar, or share the public event page, viewable without an account, to whoever you're inviting who isn't in HX yet.

Browse events three ways using the icons next to the Events title: a List of cards, a Map plotting every in-person or hybrid event with a location, or a Calendar laid out by month so you can see what's coming up at a glance.

Hosting your own event

Create an event from the Events tab: set the format, date, time zone, capacity, and price. Invite co-hosts to share management duties, they get the same edit/cancel/attendee-management rights you have. On the day, scan attendee QR codes from the event page to check people in.

07 Learn

Courses built and taught by members of your hive, or brought in from elsewhere and made available to it.

Taking a course

Enrol (free) or buy access, then work through its lessons at your own pace, your progress is saved automatically. Quizzes are graded instantly. Finish every lesson and you'll earn a certificate.

A discount code from the instructor? Enter it at checkout, the price (and their commission) adjusts automatically.

Teaching a course

Tap Create Course, build it out in sections and lessons (video, text, quizzes), set a price, and publish. You can generate discount codes, assign the course to specific members as required, and track everyone's progress from the course's own dashboard.

08 Marketplace

Digital and physical products and services, sold directly between hive members.

Tap any listing for the full description, price, and seller. Digital products unlock immediately on purchase; physical ones go through the seller's own shipping process. List your own from the + button, set a price, category, and whether it needs shipping, and it's live once saved.

Bought something? Leave it a star rating and a review, visible on the listing for everyone. Resonate with any review to reply publicly underneath it, same as a business review or a post, each reply earns you Sparks too.

09 Notifications

The bell icon in the top bar, one place for everything that needs your attention.

Every notification shows a small preview, a snippet of the actual post, comment, event, or course it's about, so you know what it is before you tap it. Tapping one takes you straight to the real thing: the exact post and comment, the event, the course, the chat, even across a different hive to the one you're currently in.

What an admin can do

Creating a new hive

From the hive switcher, choose to create a new one, give it a name, logo, and brand colours (the whole app re-themes to match), and you're its first admin.

11 Profile & Account Settings

Your own page, and the account-level controls behind your avatar in the top-right.

Your profile

Bio, headline, skills, speaking topics, past clients, a photo gallery, your professional experience, and a Videos section where a pasted YouTube/Facebook/TikTok/LinkedIn link plays inline. Testimonials from others appear here too, once you approve them.

Account Settings

Tap your avatar, top-right, then Account Settings for: changing your password, shipping address, push notification controls, installing the app, and, if you ever need it, permanently deleting your account.

12 Installing the App

HX is a Progressive Web App: one codebase, installable properly on Android, iOS, and desktop, no app store required.

Android & Desktop (Chrome/Edge)

Go to Account Settings and tap Install, it triggers the browser's real install prompt directly. Once installed, the home-screen icon shows an unread badge (a small number) for new notifications and messages, and push notifications correctly show HX's own name and icon instead of the browser's.

iPhone / iPad

iOS doesn't allow a one-tap install prompt from a website. Instead: tap the Share icon in Safari, then Add to Home Screen. This step is required, not optional, push notifications on iOS only work once the app has been added this way; they don't work from a normal Safari tab at all. The unread-count badge on the home-screen icon isn't available on iOS, that's an Apple platform limitation, not an HX one.

13 Public Pages

Three directories anyone can browse without an account, useful for sharing with people who aren't in HX yet.
